It’s almost Thanksgiving, and that means time is flying by! By the time you’re done cleaning up from the holidays, summer will be here in the blink of an eye. Session 1 is drawing to a close at Maine Arts Camp, and so many wonderful things have been transpiring: new friendships, courage to try new things, beautiful artwork, talented and fun performances, and so much more. Please join me as I give you a glimpse of what’s been happening here and what your children have been up to!
As you pack for summer camp with your child, you have the opportunity to set the tone for your child’s camp experience. Read how you can fill these moments with intentional conversation that will empower your child with the skills to feel self-confident while having realistic expectations about camp.
After attending the American Camp Association New England conference, I have lots of new ideas that I can’t wait to implement at our staff training and during camp. Most of all, I look forward to further exploring the things that counselors do to create truly exceptional moments for campers. The moments that have a lifelong impact. The moments that create the magic of camp.
Going to camp can be scary for any child or teen, especially the first time. For kids who tend to be shy, it can be especially stressful. However, there are ways you can help prepare your child so that he or she will go to camp with some great skills for making friends.
