Tonight a new tradition was born at Maine Arts Camp. We now have a lobster and a moose character who will be bringing us tidbits of information on a regular basis. It all happened when our senior art director, Marilyn Barry happened upon some adorable character hats on a day off [...]
Session 1 is drawing to a close at Maine Arts Camp, and so many wonderful things have been transpiring: new friendships, courage to try new things, beautiful artwork, talented and fun performances, and so much more. Please join me as I give you a glimpse of what’s been happening here and what your children have been up to!
As you pack for summer camp with your child, you have the opportunity to set the tone for your child’s camp experience. Read how you can fill these moments with intentional conversation that will empower your child with the skills to feel self-confident while having realistic expectations about camp.
When children return from camp, parents want to know all about their experience, but it can be hard to get them to share their thoughts and feelings. I’ve solicited some expert advice to get great questions and tips for starting meaningful conversations with your kids after camp. Please read on and save these tips for the end of summer, and possibly use them in advance as well!
As I am completely immersed in thoughts of camp, I find myself wondering what new adventures lie ahead for us this summer. Communicating with our staff on a more regular basis, I am feeling the excitement growing as we prepare to join each other at our summer “home.” While campers are busy shopping and packing, staff are doing and feeling many of the same things. Please join me as I fill you in on what happens at staff training, and how we come together to create the magic of camp!
Summer is quickly approaching, and we are busy with so many preparations for camp. From staff training plans to processing camper forms, ordering supplies, confirming trip day plans, helping families with travel arrangements and more, it’s all consuming. Please join me to get a glimpse at our world in the busy pre-camp stages.
This year we held our first t-shirt design contest to allow campers and prospective campers to create our new camp t-shirts. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the wide variety of designs depicting our summer camp from the camper’s perspective. Please read more to see the winning design and learn about what it took to create it.
Are you feeling overwhelmed thinking about preparing your child for summer camp? From filling out forms to labeling their belongings and packing…surely you’re forgetting something! Relax, take a deep breath, and read on as I help you prepare for summer camp. Maybe you’ll even start thinking about having some fun yourself!
