|
Originating from Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Danielle Dickey is a 21-year-old artist and art major at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, now in her junior year. From 2006-2008, Danielle studied at the University of Massachusetts Lowell where she majored in Fine Arts. She then took time off from school to work and discover her career path, education. She has been teaching arts and basic science courses throughout the greater Boston area since 2007 with a company called "Wicked Cool for Kids," and is very excited to expand her knowledge of arts as a counselor at Maine Arts Camp this summer! Since grade school, art has been Danielle's passion, and she plans to go for her Masters in Art Education after obtaining her Bachelors. She aims to help children and adults express their creativity and individuality through various art forms, just as the teachers in her life aided her. In early 2009, Danielle was in an art show for V-day Lawrence to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against Domestic Violence and also volunteered at a Domestic Abuse shelter in Lawrence Mass this past year as a play space leader. Throughout high school, Danielle volunteered as a Best Buddie to aid Adults with Disabilities, and as a Reader at the Chelmsford Community Read-In.
Danielle enjoys photography, drawing and painting, sculpting, film, spoken word, writing, dance, playing and listening to music, cooking, performance art and theater, yoga, the outdoors, reading, and spending time with close friends and family, her dog and two cats, while relishing in the good times. She has been teaching herself vocal skills, guitar, harmonica and basic percussion for the past year or so, and is very hungry for knowledge. Danielle cannot wait to become a part of the Maine Arts Camp Family!
