Chelsea Ellis, a native of Maine, grew up mostly in the central region. During her nomadic childhood, her family lived in Wilton and Warren, Maine. These two beautiful places have given Chelsea her everlasting appreciation of life in this state. Every summer, Chelsea travels to Wilson Lake in Wilton, Coos Canyon in Byron, and Popham Beach in Phippsburg. After graduating high school, she barely considered leaving Maine to go to college.
Chelsea graduated in May from the University of Southern Maine with her BA in Photography and minors in Business Administration and Art History. Originally an Art Education student, she discovered her love of film photography during her sophomore year of college. She declared her new major in photography and has worked in black and white film, color film, pinhole, and digital photography since then. Despite moving on to digital, color film portraits remain her passion.
In the near future, Chelsea wants to establish her own photography business. Until then, she lives in Portland pursuing internships and other positions in photojournalism and commercial photography. It is impossible to tell where her journey into "the real world" will take her, but she hopes that the journey will ultimately end back here in Maine.
